* Know the New Rule About Who Can Vote on a Republican Primary Ballot

In the March 2026 Republican primary, only those whose voter registration political party preference lists “Republican” or “Optional” will be able to select a Republican ballot. Voters whose political party status is “Democratic” will not be allowed to select a Republican ballot.

Despite voter outcry to close our primary races, state legislators declined to do so in the 2025 legislature. In response, the Republican Party of Arkansas established this rule for Republican primary ballots only.

You can change your party preference when you go vote just like you can your address, but we recommend taking care of it ahead of time.
